Everyone who lives in Washington DC has to take the metro at one point or another. Unless you want to get that $30 parking ticket on Capitol Hill, or the $100 ticket on Constitution Ave near the Mall, you load up your Smartrip and hit the rails.
I’ve been riding the train for some time now, and as a seasoned rider would like to share some tips and tricks to maximize your travel.
There are some tips that everyone gives,
1. Stand to the right. This seems simple enough, walk to the left, stand to the right.
2. Stand back when the doors are closing
“These don’t work like elevator doors..and will close with your body or objects inside them”
3. Keep your metro card, you need it to get out (most learn that the hard way)
4. Don’t lean on the doors, they’ll slide open.
But there are some tips that you can't get from the announcements you hear while you stand in the station, thats where I come in.
